So... We made it to Berlin! :)
The flight out of Gulfport was delayed by thirty minutes and our layover in Atlanta was 59 min. So... As soon as we got to the Atlanta airport, we ran to catch our flight! It was GREAT! (not.) Luckily, we made our flight! We were worried about our bags but I guess they joined us on our flight to NYC and then to Berlin!
The flight from NYC to Berlin was LOOONNNNGGG!! They fed us dinner and breakfast. However, I didn't eat dinner because I was sleeping or at least attempting to sleep... Planes really aren't that comfortable. On my first flight I sat next to Ashley. On the second flight I sat next to Ashley again and Antonio. On the last flight I sat next to Mr. Fava and Ashley again! Ashley held my hand everytime! She's soo sweet! :)
Once we got to Berlin, our translator/guide met us at the airport and took us on a bus through downtown Berlin! People in Berlin drive CRAZY! I was really really scared. I'm also really really tired! The time change is getting me...
We went to the school and they showed us around the school...it's really really small! however, the buildings go up instead of around! There are only 800 students at the school and there's only ONE bathroom! But its such a nice bathroom! After they showed us around the school we ate and then the choir came and sang to us! They were really good!
The weather her is pleasant! It's not to hot and not to cold! Everything is more or less different... For example, the bath rooms are different...They all seem to be the same size as the bedrooms and they all have a window where you can see out of and people can see in. That's kinda wierd to me... Mostly everything is the same! It's so nice! Like I said before though...the buildings go up instead of around...
Marie Urbicht is my host! She's really really nice and cool! Right now we are both working on our computers! I haven't meet her parents yet...but her mom just got here!
Alrighty...I'm going to go meet my host mom and maybe catch a nap! More later!
peace!

Hello Sunshine! I really hope you can catch a few winks soon. But then again, maybe it would be better just to go to bed early. And since it's 1:30pm here now, you might just be sleeping as I type! :)
ReplyDeleteSo far I'm your only "poster", huh? ;) Sarah couldn't get it to work so I may work a little mojo and figure something out. Otherwise you're gonna get sick of hearing from me! :)
800 kids to 1 bathroom? Yeah, I don't like those odds. Is it a uni-sex bathroom? You didn't mention that. THAT would be creepy! And the windows, remember if it's dark outside, shut the light so people can't see in! :)
Glad you got there safe. Have some fun! Ooooo, don't forget to tell me about the dog! :)
Prepare yourself. I'm going to pepper you with questions. You don't HAVE to answer them all. I was just entertaining myself at lunch today and came up with these.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the food like? Anything that you've been afraid to try? Does your host family eat healthy (fruits, veggies, fiber)? They're not rice people are they?
Have you been drinking plenty of water? Plane rides make you dehydrated.
What are your sleeping arrangements? Got your own room or bunking with Marie? Does she share the same musical tastes as you?
How's the language barrier situation? Is Marie going to take you to see the night-life in Berlin this weekend? Are you taking lots of pictures? :)
NCIS was fantaboulistic as always! Ziva made a decision about her situation. Want me to tell you? ;)
Okay. Can't think of anything else right now. Oh, am I annoying you yet? Miss you!!!
that Sarah says: I miss you oh so much!! =) I'm glad to hear you are having fun! Can't wait to see you and hear about all your stories when you get back! I love you!! P.S. I can't believe you actually packed a 2-liter of sunkist!! Haha wait nevermind yes I can!! Haha you are too funny! Anyways have fun! And I love you!
ReplyDeleteoh i'm so glad that you made it there safely! it sounds like you are getting acquainted with the country and everything, but anyway im really happy that you made it there, i was praying for u guys! have a great time! be safe!

Thank you, Ms. Michelle!
ReplyDeleteAbout the bathrooms, it's not unisex and the bathrooms are really nice! I didn't count but there are about ten or tweleve stalls in the bathroom! Loti answers to Germany, English, French, and Latin. Marie called him in a bunch of different langauages and he came! It was really cool!
So far...my family has not ate rice. We had curry suasuage last night and it was actually good...it was the french fries that made me sick suprisingly! It's odd because they don't drink anything with ice... nothing is cold...it's all hot! Also...the water here is not really water...it's sparkling water(bubbles). I haven't really been drinking much of it because I'm not the biggest fan of it.
I'm sleeping in a room with Marie. She is on the bottom bunk and I'm on top! Marie speaks really good English but her parents not so much! Her mom speaks a little bite...enough to get it and her dad does not really speak it..
yes I am taking lot of pictures!
Hi Katy: It's Marcia (or Hayden calls me MarMar) but Shelli sent me the link to your blog. I think it is so cool and you are so brave to go abroad! and be wonderfully curious. I hope you have a fabulous experience. I will be traveling vicariously through you...I know timing is funky with Hayden's knee but that will be history before long and your memories of your trip will be forever..I bet they love your infectious smile..Stay in the moment and love it! I will be watching. PS. I'm a longtime 'sunkist' junkie....it is a drug for sure.......Take care. Marcia
